Kottayam: The Vijayapuram Social Service Society (VSSS) celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm, emphasizing the crucial importance of preserving nature for the future generation. The event, held at the VSSS central office, marked the launch of several eco-friendly initiatives.
Key Highlights of the Event:
The program commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Sebastian Mattathil, the VSSS Program/Project Officer. Rev. Fr. Felix Devasia Puratheparambil, the Executive Director of VSSS, presided over the function. The World Environment Day pledge was administered by Rev. Fr. Anas Paul Karottunalunnel. Mr. John Joseph, Administrator and Accounts Officer of VSSS, proposed the vote of thanks.
Tree Planting and Distribution:
As part of the celebrations, tree saplings were planted on the VSSS central office premises, led by Executive Director Rev. Fr. Felix Devasia and Community Development Officer Sr. Valsamma RFTS. Additionally, tree saplings were distributed to various institutions under the society.
Participants at the event stressed that environmental protection is not a one-day celebration but a lifelong responsibility for everyone. All those present took a collective pledge to safeguard nature diligently for the generations to come.
