Chathanthara: A free eye screening camp was organized under the auspices of the Vijayapuram Social Service Society (VSSS), in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College, Kottayam. The camp was held at the St. Sebastian’s Church Auditorium, Chathanthara, on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The event commenced with a prayer. Mr. Aneesh Alakkal, PDC Secretary, delivered the welcome address. The meeting was presided over by the Parish Vicar, Rev. Fr. Thomas Thaiparambil, and the camp was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Anas Paul, Assistant Director of VSSS.
Sr. Valsamma, VSSS Coordinator, and Smt. Shiji Joji, Ward Member, offered their felicitations. Dr. Jelisa provided a detailed overview of the camp’s objectives and medical services. Mr. Babu Kunnumpuram, Secretary of the Elders’ Forum, proposed the vote of thanks.
The eye screening camp was conducted under the leadership of the PDC members, and a total of 104 people attended the camp to avail of the medical services.
