Eye Camp Organized at Mannakkanadu Holy Cross Church
Mannakkanadu: A free eye check-up camp was organized at the Mannakkanadu Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 20, under the joint auspices of the Vijayapuram Social Service Society (VSSS) and the District Blindness Control Society.
Fr. Felix Devasia, Assistant Director of the Vijayapuram Social Service Society, inaugurated the camp. The meeting was presided over by the Parish Vicar, Fr. Thomas Pazhavakkattil.
PDC Secretary Mr. Libin M. Philip delivered the welcome speech. Felicitations were offered by VSSS Coordinator Sr. Valsamma, Sr. Fabi Joseph, Parish Council Secretary Mr. Vijay Babu, and Finance Council Secretary Mr. Biju Choolani. Animator Smt. Leena Sabu proposed the vote of thanks.
Members of the Parish Council and PDC provided leadership for the camp’s activities. Approximately 150 people participated in the camp.
Manakkayanad: During the free eye check-up camp held at the Holy Cross Church in Manakkayanad, Fr. Felix Devasia, the Assistant Director of Vijayapuram Social Services Society (VSSS), handed over his eye donation consent form to Dr. Athira from the Department of Ophthalmology, Kottayam Medical College. This willingness to donate sight after life gave added significance to the objectives of the camp.
The camp was organized as part of VSSS’s social service activities. In addition to eye examinations, necessary guidance and assistance for follow-up treatments, including for cataract patients, were provided at the camp. This event helped in spreading awareness about the importance of protecting eyesight and promoting the virtue of eye donation among the public.
