Thiruvalla: As part of the World Cancer Day observance, the cancer awareness programs for the Thiruvalla region were held at the Preshitharani Palliative and Cancer Care Centre, Poovam. The program, held on the morning of February 5th, also included the distribution of aid to patients.
Rev. Fr. Felix Devasia Puratheparambil, Executive Director of VSSS, presided over the meeting, and Rev. Fr. Alex Kochatt, Vicar of Poovam Parish, delivered the keynote address.
Mrs. Elsamma Martin (Ward 17 Member, Paippad – Poovam), Rev.Sister Flosy (SRA) (Mother Superior, Preshitharani Palliative and Cancer Care Centre), and Mrs. Prameela George (Ashakiranom Coordinator) spoke at the function, offering their felicitations.
Rev.Sister Dennis (SRA), who has been working with the Preshitharani Palliative and Cancer Care Centre since its inception, was honored at the function with a shawl.
Volunteers from various parishes collected and donated essential items worth ₹10,000, including bedsheets, diapers, and other daily necessities, to the palliative care center for the patients.
Shyma Joyachan (Secretary, Ashakiranom) welcomed the gathering, and volunteer Rajan Joseph proposed the vote of thanks. More than 45 people participated in the event.
