Kottayam: The Ashakiranam Kottayam Region observed Cancer Day on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Jyothir Bhavan, Amayannoor.
Rev. Fr. Felix Devasia Purathaparambil, Executive Director of VSSS, presided over the function. Mrs. Lailamma John, Patron of Jyothir Bhavan, welcomed the gathering.
The event was felicitated by Mr. Jiji Nagamattathil (Amayannoor Grama Panchayat Member and Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson), Mr. Joseph John (Kottayam Region Joint President), and Mrs. Pramila George (Ashakiranam Coordinator). Volunteers from various parishes explained the ongoing activities of Ashakiranam.
Solidarity and Support
Following the speeches, a cultural program was staged by the volunteers and the residents of Jyothir Bhavan. A sum of ₹10,250/-, collected by the volunteers, was handed over to the Jyothir Bhavan Patron, Mrs. Lailamma John, by VSSS Director Fr. Felix Devasia Puratheparambil .
Ms. Bincy Mathai, Secretary of Ashakiranam Kottayam Region, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was attended by 50 participants, including Ashakiranam volunteers, PDC secretaries, animators, and internship students. The event concluded with a shared love feast (Snehavirunnu) with the residents of Jyothir Bhavan.
