Vijayapuram Social Service Society (VSSS) Celebrates International Women’s Day

KOTTAYAM: In connection with International Women’s Day, the Vijayapuram Social Service Society (VSSS) organized a grand celebration on Saturday, March 7, at the Vimalagiri Cathedral Auditorium. The event saw active participation from women across various sectors.

​Inauguration and Official Meeting
​The program commenced with a prayer song by the Vijay ayalkootam, Veloor. Rev. Fr. Felix Devasia Puratheparambil, Director of VSSS, delivered the welcome address. The presidential address was presided over by Mr. Francis B. Savio, Vice President of VSSS.

​The event was officially inaugurated by Ms. Tiju Thomas, District Officer of the Women and Child Development Department, Kottayam. Rev. Fr. Joseph Aji Cherukakramchery, Curia Moderator, delivered the blessing speech. The keynote address was given by Ms. K. Rekha, renowned author and Assistant Professor in the Malayalam Department at Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara.

​Honoring Excellence
​A special segment was dedicated to honoring women who have made significant contributions to society. Rev. Sr. Mary Ansa DIH, Vice Chancellor of the Diocese of Vijayapuram, presented the awards.

​Ms. Jessy George, VSSS Governing Body Member, offered felicitations, and Rev. Fr. Anas Paul, Assistant Director of VSSS, proposed the vote of thanks.

​Competitions and Cultural Programs
​To showcase the creative talents of the participants, competitions in Vegetable Printing, Vegetable Art, and Embroidery were conducted. Following the formal meeting, members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) performed diverse cultural programs.

​A highlight of the day was the Tug-of-War competition held towards the conclusion of the event. VSSS Director Rev. Fr. Felix Devasia distributed prizes to the winners of the various competitions. The celebrations concluded with a grand traditional feast.
