Women Empowerment
Vijayapuram Social Service Society envisages the changes as to: Boost women’s self-esteem, Shut down negativity, Be open and honest, Promote female collectives, Become a mentor, Support women-run businesses, Capacitate women to enter into political leadership. Women empowerment has changed the course of their life as a natural process of advancing age, improved income generation, or as a response to familial, social, political and other contextual challenges and life changes
Animators
Animation is the strategy we follow in this process. Animation is a thinking and action approach to navigate the complexity of the social change process –
- To promote strong and creative involvement of women in community development.
- To promote socialization – establishing healthy social relations among people.
- To accelerate socio-economic development of the poor through sustainable livelihood development.
- To facilitate vocational skills training of the poor and weaker sections of women.
- To catalyze collaboration and linkages with local self-government and other sectors in development.
- To facilitate formation and vitalization of local institutions at the grass root level – Balavedi, Yuvavedi, SGH, Elders’ Forum, Women’s Forum, Karshakasangham etc.
Nirmala Social Institute (NSI)
A model institute where the talents and skills of girls are brought out to form mature persons. Nirmala Social Institute(NSI) is one of the units established in 1976 under the Package Development programme. Here girls are provided with free food and accommodation and trained in Fashion Designing, Tailoring and Garment Making, Embroidery and Cutwork. They are given training in Personality Development, Leadership, Home management, Socialization, Gender and EDP.
